Scindia Sets Strict Deadlines for 11 Key Gwalior Projects

Union Minister reviews major infrastructure works, fixes completion targets and vows top standards for Gwalior’s rapid growth

 Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Gwalior Collectorate, setting strict timelines for 11 major infrastructure and civic projects aimed at accelerating development in Gwalior and the surrounding region.

Addressing officials and public representatives, Scindia directed that every project must be completed within the stipulated schedule and to the highest standards. “Development must bring real change to people’s lives, not remain on paper,” he said, underlining the importance of transparency and public participation. He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav for “writing a new chapter of growth” in Gwalior and across the state.

Major Projects and Deadlines
  1. Gwalior Elevated Road: Phase-1 (₹446.92 crore) to finish by 1 Oct 2027, Phase-2 (₹926.21 crore) by 19 Nov 2027, easing city traffic.
  2. Railway Station Revamp: ₹534.70 crore modernization with heritage design, to be completed by April 2026.
  3. Agra–Gwalior Expressway: ₹4,613 crore land acquisition underway to spur industrial and trade links.
  4. Gwalior–Chambal Raw Water Supply: Citywide system to meet drinking water needs till 2055; target March 2027.
  5. Water Distribution Plan: ₹1,900 crore, phases under review to deliver clean water to rural households.
  6. Western Bypass: ₹1,347.6 crore, orders issued for on-time completion to cut congestion.
  7. Multi-Level Parking: ₹82 crore Maharaj Bada facility with 352 car slots, set for March 2026.
  8. Govt Press Building & Industrial Museum: ₹16 crore upgrade to boost cultural tourism.
  9. Super-Speciality Hospital Underpass: ₹20 crore link with JAH Hospital, deadline March 2027.
  10. City Entry Gates: Four grand gateways; three completed, Gwalior Fort Gate to finish by 31 Oct 2025.
  11. Ambedkar Dham, Dabra: ₹30 crore memorial; Phase-2 in progress, 20-ft statue planned, completion by Dec 2026.
Focus on Quality and Civic Needs

Scindia warned contractors and officials that quality cannot be compromised. He highlighted Gwalior’s historic and cultural importance, calling for robust infrastructure in education, health, drinking water and sanitation.

The minister also reviewed law-and-order issues, road conditions and public transport. He inspected 255 water blockage points, categorising them for urgent repairs, and discussed efficient use of the ISBT bus stand, sewage management, and Gajra Raja Medical College requirements.

Expressing gratitude to Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Manohar Lal Khattar for their support, Scindia said the combined efforts of the Centre and Madhya Pradesh government will ensure Gwalior emerges stronger, modern and more prosperous in the coming years.
