Gwalior/Bhopal, 14th Sept: Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday addressed the valedictory session of the IITM Tech Summit “Tech for Seva”, organised by Vijnana Bharati. He underlined that technology for service is not just a slogan but a commitment to ensure every research and innovation reaches the grassroots.
Calling the summit a confluence of science and social service, Scindia praised the choice of agriculture as the core theme. “The smile of a farmer is the true sign of India’s progress,” he said, adding that science has value only when it empowers society. He highlighted India’s recent space achievements such as Chandrayaan-3, Aditya-L1 and Gaganyaan as proof of the nation’s growing technological strength under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Scindia stressed the need to use technology to bring the market closer to farmers rather than forcing farmers to chase markets. Citing the example of Chanderi, he said the priority must be to make farmers’ lives easier and enable them to access buyers directly through digital tools and innovative models.
The Minister lauded Madhya Pradesh’s agri-tech start-ups such as Gramophone and SOUL Society, noting how digital platforms are giving farmers new direction and supporting the goal of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). “If the farmer becomes self-reliant, only then will India become self-reliant,” he asserted.
Concluding the summit, Scindia urged scientists, start-ups and partner institutions to align research with the needs of society. He expressed confidence that the deliberations and collaborations at the conference will open new pathways for agriculture and rural development.
