Oldbury (UK), 13th Sept: A Sikh woman in her twenties was raped and racially abused by two men in Oldbury, West Midlands, in a hate crime that has shocked the local community. The attack occurred near Tame Road around 8:30 am last Tuesday.

West Midlands Police confirmed they are treating the assault as a “racially aggravated” crime. The victim reported that the attackers hurled racist slurs, including telling her to “go back to your own country.”

According to BirminghamLive, the suspects are described as white men — one with a shaven head wearing a dark sweatshirt and the other in a grey top. CCTV footage and forensic evidence are being examined as officers appeal for public help to trace the attackers.

Community leaders and lawmakers have expressed outrage. Birmingham Edgbaston MP Preet Kaur Gill called the crime “an act of extreme violence” and said, “Our Sikh community and every community has the right to feel safe, respected, and valued. Racism and misogyny have no place in Oldbury, or anywhere in Britain.”

Ilford South MP Jas Athwal termed it a “vile, racist, misogynist attack,” linking it to “rising racial tensions” in the UK.

The incident comes less than a month after three teenagers assaulted two elderly Sikh men outside a Wolverhampton railway station, raising fresh concerns over hate crimes against the Sikh community.
