PM Modi Announces ₹1,200 Cr for Flood-Hit Uttarakhand

Dehradun, 12th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday visited Dehradun to assess the devastation caused by cloudbursts, floods, and landslides across Uttarakhand. Chairing a high-level review meeting, he announced a financial assistance package of ₹1,200 crore to accelerate relief and restoration efforts in the hill state.

Expressing deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, PM Modi declared an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those injured. He assured full central support for the rebuilding of homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, repair of highways, reconstruction of schools, and relief through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

The Prime Minister also announced comprehensive care under the PM CARES for Children scheme for youngsters orphaned by the disaster, pledging long-term welfare measures. He met several affected families and lauded the tireless efforts of NDRF, SDRF, Army personnel, and Aapda Mitra volunteers engaged in rescue and relief operations.

Central inter-ministerial teams have already been deployed to assess the extent of damage. Modi emphasized a “multi-dimensional approach” to rehabilitation and said further assistance will follow detailed reports from these teams and the state government.
