Modi condemns Israeli strikes in Doha ‘violation of Qatar sovereignty’ speaks with Amir

WASHINGTON – India Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that “India condemns the violation of the sovereignty of the brotherly State of Qatar.”

He spoke with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, and expressed deep concerns over Israeli strikes in Doha.

Modi said that “India condemns the violation of the sovereignty of the brotherly State of Qatar,” as he informed about his telephone conversation with the Qatari Amir

PM said on X “We support resolution of issues through dialogue and diplomacy, and avoiding escalation. India stands firmly in support of peace and stability in the region, and against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations”.

Modi’s condemnation of the Israeli strikes in Doha came a day after Israel launched “precise strikes” targeted a Hamas delegation in Doha.

According to media reports the Israeli attack launched by the Israeli Air Force using fighter jets, hit a residential premises where Hamas’ political bureau members were residing.

Israel argued that measures were taken to mitigate the civilian harm.

Qatar said that the attack was a “blatant violation” of international laws and posed a “serious threat” to the nation.

Dr Majed Al Ansari, the spokesperson of the Qatari Foreign Ministry, said “The State of Qatar strongly condemns this attack, and affirms that it will not tolerate this reckless Israeli behavior and the continuous tampering with the security of the region and any action aimed at its security and sovereignty.”

According to reports, the Hamas delegation had gathered in Doha to discuss the latest US proposal for the prospects of a ceasefire in Gaza.
