New Delhi, 10th Sept: The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has reserved its order on a petition seeking registration of an FIR against Congress leader Sonia Gandhi over allegations of her name being included in the electoral rolls before obtaining Indian citizenship. The court is expected to pronounce its order by Thursday, 4 PM.

The petition alleges that Sonia Gandhi acquired Indian citizenship on April 30, 1983, but her name was already included in the 1980 New Delhi voter list. It further claims that her name was later deleted from the rolls in 1982, raising questions about the authenticity of documents used for the earlier inclusion.

The petitioner argued that the entry in the 1980 electoral roll indicates the use of forged documents, amounting to a cognizable offence. The plea urged the court to direct Delhi Police to register a case, investigate the matter, and submit a status report.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Vaibhav Chaurasia reserved the order after hearing arguments presented by senior advocate Pawan Narang on behalf of complainant Vikas Tripathi. So far, the court has not issued any formal notice to Sonia Gandhi or Delhi Police.
