New Delhi, 30th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his two-day visit to Japan and departed for China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit being held in Tianjin on August 30.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister visited a semiconductor facility in Sendai, Miyagi prefecture, where he underscored the importance of strengthening ties between Japanese prefectures and Indian states in sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, innovation, start-ups, and small businesses. He urged greater sub-national collaboration to unlock opportunities in technology and investment.
With his Japan engagements wrapped up, PM Modi arrived in Tianjin, China, where he will participate in the SCO summit on August 31 and September 1. The summit is expected to feature deliberations on regional security, trade, energy, and connectivity.
On the sidelines, PM Modi is scheduled to hold crucial discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. His visit comes against the backdrop of heightened India-US tensions, adding greater diplomatic weight to the proceedings.
The SCO summit is likely to set the stage for wide-ranging geopolitical dialogue, with India’s role in regional stability and multilateral cooperation in sharp focus.
