New Delhi, 29th Aug: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, presided over the BRICS CCI Healthcare Summit 2025 in New Delhi on Friday. The summit, held on the theme “Bridging Tradition and Innovation,” focused on strengthening cooperation among BRICS nations in healthcare, Ayush trade, and innovation.
Extending greetings on Ganesh Utsav, the Minister underlined that BRICS, which accounts for nearly half of the world’s population, one-third of global GDP, and one-fifth of global trade, has a crucial role in shaping inclusive and sustainable growth models.
Ayurveda gaining global recognition
Jadhav emphasized that Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy form the foundation of a modern, inclusive, and patient-centric healthcare system. He noted the growing international acceptance of Ayush practices, citing examples of Ayurvedic practitioners’ communities in Brazil, Ayurveda’s inclusion in Russia’s healthcare framework, and the advancement of traditional medicine in China.
Highlighting India’s strong Ayush ecosystem under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Minister said the country has more than 1,000 Ayush colleges, including over 500 Ayurveda institutions, backed by an extensive research network and robust regulatory mechanisms.
Call for deeper BRICS cooperation
The Minister urged BRICS nations to expand cooperation in Ayush trade, digital health innovation, nutraceutical research, and sustainable practices. He called for public–private partnerships and frameworks to harmonize standards of Ayush products to boost markets, reduce vulnerabilities, and establish India as a global health and wellness leader.
Jadhav also pointed out that the Ministry of Ayush has signed MoUs with 25 countries, creating a strong foundation for global engagement in traditional medicine. He urged the summit to be leveraged as a platform for forging new alliances and healthcare models blending tradition with innovation.
