New Delhi, 29th Aug: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday distanced himself from the viral video controversy from the INDIA bloc’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar’s Darbhanga, where derogatory remarks were allegedly made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother.

Owaisi, while emphasising the democratic right to criticism, warned against crossing the limits of decency. “Oppose, criticise, condemn as much as you want. But if you cross the limits of decency, it is wrong. Criticise the Prime Minister, but not with indecent language,” he said, urging politicians to maintain dignity in public debate.

Reacting strongly, Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the Congress of pursuing “politics of hatred” and demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi. Shah recalled a series of past derogatory remarks by Congress leaders, arguing that such conduct would not earn people’s mandate.

Meanwhile, BJP workers in Patna staged a protest march towards Congress’s state headquarters, Sadaqat Ashram. The march turned violent, with stone-pelting and clashes breaking out between the two sides, leaving several injured. Police intervened and registered complaints from both parties. In retaliation, Congress workers staged a dharna, accusing the BJP of hooliganism.
