Tokyo, 29th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tokyo on Friday for a two-day visit to participate in the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. His arrival was marked by a grand welcome from the Japanese community, who recited the Gayatri Mantra and other chants. The video of PM Modi joining in the recitation has gone viral on social media.
This is PM Modi’s eighth visit to Japan, undertaken at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. Apart from the annual summit, he is scheduled to interact with leading business figures, focusing on boosting trade and investment ties between the two countries.
Sharing his excitement on X, PM Modi wrote: “Landed in Tokyo. As India and Japan continue to strengthen developmental cooperation, I look forward to engaging with PM Ishiba and others during this visit, thus providing an opportunity to deepen existing partnerships and explore new avenues of collaboration.”
PM Modi also hailed the contributions of the Indian community in Japan, praising their ability to preserve cultural roots while integrating into Japanese society.
After concluding his Japan visit, PM Modi will travel to Tianjin, China, from August 31 to September 1 to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit. There, he is expected to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and other world leaders.
