New Delhi, 27th Aug: Reaffirming its commitment to “Quality in Service – Dignity for Veterans,” the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW), Ministry of Defence, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Quality Council of India (QCI). The agreement, signed on August 26 in New Delhi, aims to strengthen the delivery of pension, healthcare, resettlement, and welfare services for over 63 lakh veterans and their dependents.

Under the MoU, QCI will assist the DESW with digital evaluations, impact assessments, and evidence-based policy recommendations to optimize the current system. In return, the DESW will facilitate data access and coordinate with key stakeholders, including State Governments and Armed Forces Headquarters. This collaboration is set to enhance healthcare delivery, expand re-employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, and reinforce the institutional frameworks of veteran welfare boards.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Secretary (DESW), Dr. Niten Chandra, emphasized the importance of using digital platforms and AI applications to ensure efficient service delivery. He noted that the partnership with QCI would help ensure evidence-based improvements across various schemes.
