Reviving Birsa Munda’s Legacy through Needonomics is Essential for Sustainable Viksit Bharat – Prof. M.M. Goel

Ranchi (Jharkhand), 22nd August:  “Reviving Birsa Munda’s legacy through Needonomics is essential for achieving a sustainable and humane Viksit Bharat,” said Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, Proponent of Needonomics and former Vice-Chancellor. He was addressing participants of International Conference on “Birsa Munda’s Vision and Indigenous Wisdom: Multidisciplinary Insights for Inclusive, Ethical, and Sustainable Development “organized by the Faculty of Business Management, Sarala Birla University, Ranchi. The session began with a welcome address by Conference Coordinator Dr. Vidushi Sharma, who introduced Prof. M.M. Goel.
Prof. Goel noted that Birsa Munda, revered as Dharti Abba, symbolized resistance, reverence for nature, and community justice—values that align closely with Needonomics School of Thought (NST).
Rooted in the wisdom of the Gita and Anu-Gita, Needonomics stands as an antidote to “Greedonomics,” advocating ethical consumption, sustainable production, and justice-oriented governance, explained Prof Goel.
Prof. Goel highlighted Gita-inspired Needonomics with its three pillars—research, resilience, and renewal—urging adoption of a needo-lifestyle rooted in the Gita verse ‘Yogakshemam Vahamyaham’, promoting ethical, non-violent, and eco-friendly living.
Prof. Goel stressed that the march toward Viksit Bharat 2047 must be assessed not merely in terms of GDP or infrastructure but through justice for the marginalized, sustainability of natural resources, and dignity of labor.
Honoring Birsa Munda means reviving his ethos through Needonomics, which makes those values actionable today and paves indigenous pathways for a sustainable, just, and humane Viksit Bharat,” concluded Prof. Goel.
