Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Senior Indian BJP Leader Dr. Vijay Jolly met with former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad on August 17, 2025, to promote friendship between India and Malaysia. Dr. Mahathir, who turned 100 on July 10, 2025, served as Malaysia’s Prime Minister for a total of 24 years across two terms (1981–2003 and 2018–2020).
During the meeting, Dr. Jolly found Dr. Mahathir to be fully fit and well-versed in global politics. Dr. Mahathir voiced strong support for peace and dialogue in international conflicts, including the “Ukraine-Russia,” “Israel-Hamas,” and “India-Pakistan” conflicts. He echoed Indian Prime Minister Modi’s past statement that “this is not the era of wars & bloodshed.”
Dr. Jolly briefed him on the Pahalgam massacre, where Pakistani terrorists killed innocent Indian Hindus. Acknowledging Dr. Mahathir’s role as a leader of economic reforms in Malaysia, Dr. Jolly honored the devout Muslim leader with an Ayodhya Ram Mandir saffron scarf and presented him with a booklet report on the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Jalabhishek, which included water from 156 nations.
The meeting took place in Putra Jaya, Malaysia, and served as a courtesy call to strengthen people-to-people relations between the two countries.
