Singapore Deputy PM Meets President Murmu

New Delhi, 13th Aug: A ministerial delegation from Singapore, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Commerce, Gan Kim Yong, called on President of India Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The delegation is in New Delhi for the third meeting of the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR).

Welcoming the delegation, the President highlighted the flourishing India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and recalled the State Visit of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam earlier this year, which marked the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations. She noted that regular interactions, such as the ISMR, will provide continued momentum to the multifaceted ties between the two nations.

President Murmu also expressed appreciation for Singapore’s strong stance against terrorism following the attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.

She underscored Singapore’s role as a key partner in India’s Act East Policy, MAHASAGAR Vision, and Indo-Pacific Vision. The President noted with satisfaction that the partnership is expanding beyond traditional areas like trade and defense into emerging sectors such as skilling, green economy, and FinTech.
