POTUS says tariffs gave US ‘great power’, claims credit on India-Pakistan, Azerbaijan-Armenia conflicts

WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump on Tuesday has claimed that tariffs have given Washington “great power,” enabled it to help resolve multiple global conflicts, including between India and Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Armenia, and Cambodia and Thailand.
He was speaking at an event, he said,”…The tariffs have helped, gives us not only the money, but it gives us great power over enemies. We solved five wars- Pakistan and India. Azerbaijan and Armenia- it was raging for 37 years, and the two leaders got up and they said, we never thought this would be solved. Russia tried to solve it. They all tried to solve it. It was a very tough situation, but we got it done.”
Trump had claimed that the US brokered peace between India and Pakistan.
He claim that he mediated between India and Pakistan had been rejected repeatedly by India.
Trump claimed that the ceasefire was achieved only after the he interceded and offered both countries trading access to the US.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a landmark peace agreement brokered by the United States during a meeting at the White House with President Donald Trump.
The deal aims to strengthen economic ties between the long-time rivals and move their relationship toward full normalization after decades of conflict.
Cambodia’s prime minister Hun Manet announced that he has nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, praised his “extraordinary statesmanship” in resolving a border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand.
In late July 2025, a deadly border conflict broke out between Cambodia and Thailand resulting in dozens of casualties and displacing hundreds of thousands of people.
Trump intervened, called both leaders and pressed for an immediate ceasefire.
He made it clear that the U.S. would not proceed with trade deals unless hostilities stopped.
