New Delhi, 11th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated 184 newly constructed Type-VII multi-storey flats for Members of Parliament at Baba Kharak Singh Marg in New Delhi. The project, aimed at addressing a persistent housing shortage for MPs, was completed with a focus on modern amenities and sustainable design.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister marked the occasion by planting a Sindoor sapling at the residential complex. He is also scheduled to interact with the workers who built the flats and address the gathering. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.

The new residential complex, which was necessitated by the limited availability of land, features vertical housing to optimize space and minimize maintenance costs. Each flat offers approximately 5,000 square feet of carpet area, providing ample space for both residential and official functions. The units include dedicated areas for offices, staff accommodation, and a community center to support MPs in their public responsibilities.

Built with advanced monolithic concrete and aluminum shuttering technology for durability, the complex is Divyang-friendly and fully compliant with the GRIHA 3-star rating and the National Building Code 2016. It incorporates green technologies such as solar panels and rainwater harvesting, reflecting a commitment to environmental sustainability and energy conservation. The buildings are also designed to be earthquake-resistant, with robust security systems in place.
