New Delhi, 10th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate 184 newly constructed multi-storey flats for Members of Parliament on Monday, August 11. The inauguration ceremony will take place at the new residential complex on Baba Kharak Singh Marg in New Delhi at approximately 10 AM.
The project, which was built at a cost of ₹680 crore, was developed to address the longstanding shortage of housing for MPs. The complex features 184 Type-VII flats and is designed to be self-sufficient, equipped with a full range of modern amenities.
Incorporating green technology and adhering to a GRIHA 3-star rating, the project focuses on energy conservation, renewable energy generation, and effective waste management. The use of advanced construction technology, specifically monolithic concrete with aluminum shuttering, ensured the timely completion and structural durability of the buildings, which are also Divyang-friendly and earthquake-resistant.
As part of the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister is scheduled to plant a Sindoor sapling and interact with the shramajeevis (workers) who contributed to the project. He will also address the gathering before officially opening the complex. Each residential unit spans approximately 5,000 square feet, with dedicated areas for offices, staff accommodation, and a community center, designed to support MPs in their residential and official functions.
