New Delhi, 24th July: A distinguished group of 29 traditional artists, specializing in the vibrant Sohrai, Pattachitra, and Patua art forms, were today received by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Their visit marked the culmination of the second edition of “Kala Utsav 2025 – ‘Artists in Residence Programme’,” during which they resided at the Presidential Palace from July 14 to 24, 2025. Artists from the states of Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal were the esteemed participants in this unique cultural initiative.

The “Artists in Residence programme – Kala Utsav” stands as a profound celebration of India’s rich and diverse artistic traditions. It serves as a powerful reaffirmation of the crucial role these living art forms play in preserving the nation’s cultural identity and inspiring future generations. This particular edition of Kala Utsav provided an invaluable national platform for folk, tribal, and traditional artists, many of whom have diligently carried forward these ancient art forms through generations.

President Murmu personally viewed the captivating art exhibition, showcasing the creations of these artists during their residency.
