New Delhi, 23rd July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid heartfelt tributes to the iconic freedom fighter, Lokmanya Tilak, on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister lauded Tilak as a “pioneering leader who played a vital role in kindling the spirit of India’s freedom movement with unwavering conviction.”
PM Modi further highlighted Tilak’s intellectual prowess, adding, “He was also an outstanding thinker who believed in the power of knowledge and serving others.”
Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, born on July 23, 1856, was a prominent figure in India’s struggle for independence against British rule. Known for his powerful slogan “Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it,” he inspired millions and played a crucial role in shaping the nationalist movement through his writings, speeches, and public activism. His birth anniversary is observed across the nation, commemorating his immense contributions to India’s journey towards self-rule.
