New Delhi, 22nd July: Mild tremors were felt across the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) on Tuesday morning, following an earthquake with its epicentre in Faridabad, Haryana. Authorities confirmed there were no immediate reports of any loss of life or damage to property.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake, measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale, was recorded at precisely 6:00 AM IST. The seismic event originated at a shallow depth of 5 kilometers below the surface, located at latitude 28.29 degrees north and longitude 77.21 degrees east, pinpointing Faridabad as its epicentre.
Residents in various parts of Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and other adjoining areas reported feeling the brief shaking, leading some to initially wonder about the cause. However, due to its relatively low magnitude and shallow depth, the impact was minor, and normalcy quickly returned.
While tremors are not uncommon in the Delhi-NCR region, which lies in a seismically active zone, authorities continue to monitor the situation. Experts advise residents to remain informed about earthquake safety protocols, such as “Drop, Cover, and Hold On,” in the event of more significant seismic activity.
