Dallas, 8th July: In a heart-wrenching tragedy, an Indian family of four from Hyderabad, including two young children, was burned to death after their car was hit head-on by a truck in Dallas, United States, on Monday. The victims were identified as Tejaswini, Sri Venkat, and their two children, who were reportedly on a vacation in the US.

The devastating crash occurred in Green County as the family was returning to Dallas from Atlanta after visiting relatives. According to initial reports, a mini-truck driving on the wrong side of the road rammed into their vehicle, triggering an explosion that engulfed the car in flames. All four occupants were trapped inside, and the car was reduced to ashes before emergency responders could intervene.

Authorities said only charred remains, mostly bones, were recovered from the site. Forensic teams have sent the remains for DNA analysis to formally establish the victims’ identities before handing them over to their grieving relatives.

This is the latest in a string of fatal accidents involving Indian nationals in Texas. In September 2024, four Indian-origin individuals — Aryan Raghunath Orampati, Farooq Shaik, Lokesh Palacharla, and Darshini Vasudevan — were killed in a similar fiery crash in Anna, Texas, when a speeding truck rear-ended their SUV, triggering a fatal blaze.

Just a month prior, in August 2024, another Indian-origin couple and their daughter lost their lives in a car crash in Texas, leaving behind their teenage son as the sole survivor. Their vehicle too caught fire after being struck by another car.

The spate of tragic incidents has sent shockwaves through the Indian diaspora in the US and raised concerns about road safety and accident response times, especially in cases involving fire-related fatalities.

Efforts are underway by local authorities and Indian consular officials to assist the bereaved family and expedite the repatriation process once identification is complete.
