DMK Mocks EPS with ‘Eat 5 Star, Do Nothing’ Jibe

DMK targets AIADMK chief over inaction on NEET, Keeladi findings, and Tamil rights via satirical post

GG News Bureau
Chennai, 7th July:
The political war of words in Tamil Nadu intensified on Monday as the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) took a sharp dig at AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) through a cheeky World Chocolate Day post, captioned “Eat 5 Star, Do Nothing.”

Shared by the DMK’s IT Wing on Instagram, the post featured a cartoon resembling EPS and accused him of political passivity. It also spotlighted several unresolved issues in the state, including the demand for banning NEET, greater funding for education, Tamil Nadu’s rights in democratic representation, recognition of the Keeladi archaeological site, and promotion of the Tamil language. The post ended with a sardonic line: “Happy Chocolate Day, Mr Palaniswami.”

The DMK’s jibe comes just a day before EPS kicks off his “Makkalai Kaappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom” (Let’s Protect the People, Let’s Redeem Tamil Nadu) campaign from Coimbatore on July 7 — a region considered a stronghold for the AIADMK.

EPS Responds with Rally Call

Undeterred by the mockery, Palaniswami reiterated his call for opposition unity against the DMK during the campaign launch. Speaking to the media, he said:

“All like-minded parties should unite to defeat the DMK, which is anti-people. We welcome any party that wants to see the end of this government, including actor Vijay’s party.”

The statement comes amid speculation over possible realignments, particularly with actor Vijay’s newly launched Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which has ruled out any alliance with the BJP or its partners, including AIADMK.

EPS also addressed TVK’s criticism of the AIADMK-BJP alliance, stating:

“That is his [Vijay’s] decision. Every party builds its base by opposing others — it is part of electoral politics.”

Campaign Strategy

The AIADMK’s statewide campaign will begin in eight western districts and aims to spotlight what it calls the “failures of the Stalin-led DMK government.” Alongside the logo, Deputy General Secretary K P Munusamy released a campaign anthem to energise party workers.

Palaniswami expressed optimism about AIADMK’s return to power in 2026, saying:

“This journey will bring a big change. We will create history by winning the 2026 election and ending the Stalin model of governance.”

As Tamil Nadu inches closer to the 2026 Assembly elections, the state is witnessing a complex political contest with the DMK, AIADMK-BJP alliance, Vijay’s TVK, and Seeman’s NTK all preparing for a multi-cornered fight.
