Mumbai, 4th July: Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has announced a major manufacturing milestone, having produced 5,00,000 vehicles across its two facilities in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad). Of the total, 70% of the vehicles were rolled out from Pune, with the remaining 30% from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.
The company began its manufacturing journey in India in 2001 with the launch of the Skoda Octavia. Over the years, the brand’s India portfolio has grown to include popular models such as the Laura, Superb, Kodiaq, Kushaq, Slavia, and the recently introduced Kylaq — Skoda’s first sub-4-meter vehicle.
Today, Skoda’s manufacturing operations in India cater to both domestic and global markets. Components and parts produced locally are also exported to the brand’s newly opened facility in Vietnam, where Kushaq and Slavia models are now being assembled for the Vietnamese market.
Commenting on the milestone, Andreas Dick, Board Member for Production and Logistics at Skoda Auto a.s., said:
“Reaching the milestone of 500,000 cars produced in India is a proud testament to our strategic vision and operational excellence. We’ve built an agile and scalable ecosystem that meets the highest international standards.”
Piyush Arora, CEO & Managing Director, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, emphasized the deeper significance of the achievement:
“It’s not just about producing 500,000 cars, but about creating 500,000 connections. Every car embodies European engineering, precision, and the belief in India’s potential on the global stage.”
The milestone reaffirms India’s strategic role in the Volkswagen Group’s global growth, showcasing the synergy between German engineering and Indian manufacturing excellence.
