Patna, 28th June: In a major boost to Bihar’s law enforcement system ahead of the upcoming state elections, nearly 22,000 newly recruited constables were inducted into the Bihar Police on Saturday. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar personally handed over the appointment letters during a grand ceremony held at Bapu Sabhagar in the state capital.
Addressing the recruits and dignitaries, Kumar administered oaths to all newly appointed constables, who pledged to never consume alcohol in their lifetime and to enforce Bihar’s prohibition law with utmost sincerity.
“This is a significant day for Bihar’s youth and for strengthening the state’s policing system,” the Chief Minister said, describing the event as a milestone in his administration’s continued commitment to law and order. He had earlier posted about the event on his official handle on X, stating that June 28 would mark the distribution of appointment letters to 21,391 new constables.
Kumar highlighted the efforts made by his government over the years to increase the strength and efficiency of the police force. “When our government took over on November 24, 2005, the Bihar Police had a force of 42,481 personnel. Since 2006, we have consistently increased the number of police personnel to ensure better law and order,” he said.
The state government has approved the creation of over 2.29 lakh posts to further enhance the policing network. “All sanctioned posts will be filled by the end of this year,” Kumar added, emphasizing that this expansion would aid in curbing crime, increasing police presence in both rural and urban areas, and ensuring better safety for the public.
As Bihar heads into an election season, the large-scale recruitment and induction of constables are being seen as a strategic move by the Nitish Kumar-led government to reinforce its image of governance, law enforcement, and youth employment.
