New Delhi, 21st June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday shared an article showcasing how the integration of yoga into women and child welfare policies is helping boost grassroots health and well-being across India.
Reposting a message by Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, on social media platform X, PM Modi praised the initiative and encouraged citizens to read the article.
“Union Minister @Annapurna4BJP Ji highlights how integrating yoga into women and child welfare policies is enhancing grassroots health and well-being across India… Have a read!” he wrote.
The article, originally shared by the minister, underscores how yoga is being incorporated into key health and nutrition programmes, including Anganwadi services and Poshan Abhiyaan, with a focus on improving physical and mental wellness among women and children.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to institutionalize preventive healthcare practices at the community level, with yoga serving as a low-cost, high-impact tool. From rural outreach to school programmes, trained workers and health officials are now using yoga as a wellness module for improved outcomes in maternal and child health.
The post comes on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, where the government is pushing to deepen yoga’s reach not only as a fitness practice but as an instrument of public policy.
