Piyush Goyal Begins Switzerland, Sweden Visit to Boost Trade Ties and Global Partnerships

New Delhi, 9th June: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal today began his official visit to Switzerland, marking the start of a five-day diplomatic and trade mission aimed at enhancing India’s economic ties with Switzerland and Sweden.

The visit, from June 9 to 13, reflects India’s commitment to building stronger strategic and economic partnerships with Europe’s innovation-driven economies. In Switzerland, Minister Goyal will meet global CEOs and industry leaders in sectors like pharmaceuticals, life sciences, high-tech manufacturing, and precision engineering.

A key highlight will be his meeting with Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin to deepen trade and diplomatic cooperation. He will also participate in Swissmem Industry Day and lead a business roundtable with the Swiss Mechanical and Electrical (MEM) Industry to advance the India-EFTA TEPA (Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement).

In Sweden, the Minister will co-chair the 21st Indo-Swedish Joint Commission for Economic, Industrial and Scientific Cooperation with Minister Benjamin Dousa. He is also expected to hold bilateral talks with senior Swedish officials including State Secretary Håkan Jevrell.

Minister Goyal will participate in the India-Sweden Business Leaders’ Round Table and meet leaders from key companies such as Ericsson, Volvo, IKEA, Sandvik, and SAAB. His agenda also includes interactions with the Indian diaspora and media in both nations.

The visit seeks to transform high-level commitments into long-term partnerships, with a focus on innovation, green technologies, and sustainable growth.
