New Delhi, 16th May: Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the Administrative-cum-Academic Block of the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry under the Central Agricultural University (Imphal) at Jalukie in Nagaland.
Addressing the gathering, Chouhan announced a financial package of ₹338.83 crore to boost Nagaland’s agriculture sector.
He urged the state government to draft a comprehensive action plan for rural and agricultural development and assured full support from the Centre.
Highlighting the region’s potential in natural farming, he called for forming district-level scientific teams to engage with farmers bi-monthly, ensuring grassroots policy input and technology adoption.
The Minister lauded the college’s contributions and invited students to Delhi to present innovative ideas. He also promised support for student start-ups and assured his return to Nagaland for continued engagement with farmers and youth.
Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan, who presided over the function, commended the Central Agricultural University and the college for improving animal health and agricultural practices in the region.
Deputy Chief Minister T. R. Zeliang emphasized the need for research-based and technical farming methods to uplift the state’s economy.
