New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tributes to Bhagwan Mahavir on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, lauding the timeless values of non-violence, truth, and compassion preached by the revered spiritual figure.
In a post shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said, “We all bow to Bhagwan Mahavir, who always emphasised on non-violence, truth and compassion. His ideals give strength to countless people all around the world.” He also acknowledged the Jain community’s enduring efforts in preserving and promoting Mahavir’s teachings.
The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s recognition of Prakrit, the ancient language associated with Jain texts and traditions, stating, “Last year, we conferred the status of Classical Language on Prakrit, a decision which received a lot of appreciation.”
Reiterating his government’s commitment to upholding Bhagwan Mahavir’s vision, PM Modi affirmed continued efforts to strengthen the values of peace, harmony, and societal well-being.
Mahavir Jayanti marks the birth of Bhagwan Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, and is celebrated by Jains across India and abroad with devotion and reverence.
