Deadly Encounter in Kathua: Three Policemen and Two Militants Killed in Ongoing Security Operations

Three policemen and two militants were killed during an encounter in Jammu’s Kathua district on March 27, 2025. The incident followed a series of combing and search operations conducted by security forces and police over the past five days, led by JK’s Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat.

The encounter began after a local couple spotted a group of militants in the forests near Saniyal village, close to the international border with Pakistan. The militants are believed to be a new group that recently crossed the border. In the wake of these developments, authorities have detained seven individuals suspected of providing logistical support to the militants.

During the search operations, security forces found grenades, empty shells of M4 ammunition, and other military equipment abandoned by the militants. The ongoing operations are complicated by the dense forest terrain, making it challenging for security personnel to locate and engage the militants effectively.

The situation remains tense as authorities continue to pursue the militants, who are suspected to be moving towards other areas in Jammu and Kashmir.
