New Delhi, 28th Jan. The grand 76th Republic Day celebrations will culminate on January 29 with the mesmerizing Beating Retreat Ceremony at the iconic Vijay Chowk, set against the serene backdrop of the Raisina Hills and a setting sun.
The ceremony will feature 30 captivating Indian tunes, performed by the bands of the Indian Army (IA), Indian Navy (IN), Indian Air Force (IAF), and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Dignitaries, including President Smt Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, along with other Union Ministers, officials, and the public, will grace the event.
A Celebration of Indian Tunes
The ceremony will commence with the massed band playing the spirited tune ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja’, followed by enthralling renditions like ‘Amar Bharati’, ‘Indradhanush’, ‘Jai Janam Bhumi’, ‘Nati in Himalayan Valley’, ‘Ganga Jamuna’, and ‘Veer Siachen’ by the Pipes & Drums band.
The CAPF bands will present patriotic tunes such as ‘Vijay Bharat’, ‘Rajasthan Troops’, ‘Aye Watan Tere Liye’, and ‘Bharat ke Jawan’, while the IAF band will enchant the audience with ‘Galaxy Rider’, ‘Stride’, ‘Rubaru’, and ‘Millennium Flight Fantasy’. The IN band will play stirring melodies like ‘Rashtriya Pratham’, ‘Nishak Nishpad’, ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, ‘Spread the Light of Freedom’, ‘Rhythm of the Reef’, and ‘Jai Bharati’.
The IA band will showcase its talent with tunes such as ‘Veer Sapoot’, ‘Taqat Watan’, ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’, ‘Dhruv’, and ‘Faulad Ka Jigar’.
As the evening progresses, the Massed Bands will perform the timeless melodies ‘Priyam Bharatam’, ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon’, and ‘Drummers Call’. The ceremony will conclude with the iconic and much-loved tune of ‘Sare Jahan se Acha’, performed by the Buglers, leaving the audience with a sense of pride and patriotism.
The principal conductor of the Beating Retreat ceremony will be Commander Manoj Sebastian. The IA band will be led by Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Bishan Bahadur, while the IN and IAF bands will be conducted by M Antony, MCPO MUS II, and Warrant Officer Ashok Kumar, respectively. The CAPF band will be under the direction of Head Constable GD Mahajan Kailash Madhava Rao.
Additionally, the Pipes & Drums band will perform under the guidance of Subedar Major Abhilash Singh, and the Buglers will be led by Naib Subedar Bhupal Singh.
The Beating Retreat Ceremony, with its blend of tradition and melody, symbolizes the unity and grandeur of the Indian Armed Forces and marks the perfect conclusion to the Republic Day celebrations. The event promises to be a memorable evening of music, heritage, and patriotism at Vijay Chowk.
