New Delhi, 7th Jan. Sam Pitroda, Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress and a close confidant of Rahul Gandhi, has once again stirred controversy by defending Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros. Soros, infamous for funding anti-national activities and fostering narratives that undermine Bharat’s democratic setup, has been a contentious figure in Bharatiya political discourse. Pitroda’s remarks, made during a virtual meeting hosted by the Overseas Congress, not only defended Soros’s interference in Bharatiya affairs but also criticized the Bharatiya government’s stringent regulations on foreign funding for NGOs.

In his statements, Pitroda lamented the difficulties of channeling foreign funds into Bharat, claiming that civil society is being stifled under the Modi government. He dismissed the criticism of Soros as unwarranted, saying, “He [Soros] is doing his stuff, you do your stuff.” Such a defense of Soros, given his well-documented history of funding disruptive activities in Bharat, has sparked a political storm, with many accusing Pitroda and the Congress of aligning with global interests that seek to destabilize Bharat’s sovereignty.

George Soros: The Billionaire Architect of Chaos

George Soros, through his Open Society Foundations (OSF), has long been associated with funding movements and organizations that challenge nationalist governments across the globe. In Bharat, Soros’s involvement became a flashpoint when he openly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2023 Munich Security Conference, accusing him of crony capitalism and calling for a “democratic revival” in the country. Soros’s remarks were seen as a direct attack on Bharat’s sovereignty, with the BJP alleging that his narrative was being echoed by Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi.

Soros’s OSF, operational in Bharat since 1999, has funneled millions into NGOs, media outlets, and other entities under the guise of philanthropy. However, these funds have often been linked to activities that seek to manipulate Bharat’s political narrative and hinder nationalist policies. Soros’s agenda, cloaked in liberal values, has raised concerns about foreign interference in Bharat’s democratic processes, particularly as his funding has supported groups with Islamist and Marxist leanings.

Pitroda’s Controversial Ties and Pro-Western Advocacy

Sam Pitroda’s defense of Soros is not surprising, given his long-standing ties to Western interests. A Gandhi family loyalist and advisor to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Pitroda has been accused of advancing agendas aligned with the US deep state. His involvement with organizations like the Global Knowledge Initiative (GKI), funded by entities such as the Rockefeller Foundation and USAID, has further fueled suspicions about his role in promoting foreign interference in Bharat.

Pitroda’s recent remarks criticizing Bharat’s restrictions on foreign funding for NGOs reflect a broader narrative propagated by the Congress party. These regulations, implemented under the Modi government, were aimed at curbing the misuse of foreign funds for anti-national activities. However, Pitroda’s opposition to these measures suggests a preference for unchecked foreign influence in Bharat’s civil society.

Rahul Gandhi’s Echoes of the Soros Agenda

Rahul Gandhi, too, has drawn criticism for his alignment with narratives that resonate with Soros’s agenda. During his international visits, Gandhi has repeatedly called for foreign intervention in Bharat’s internal affairs. From equating BJP’s electoral victories with the reigns of Saddam Hussein and Gaddafi to accusing the Modi government of undermining democracy, Gandhi’s rhetoric has often mirrored the talking points of Western liberal establishments.

In 2023, during a conversation at the National Press Club in Washington, Gandhi falsely portrayed the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the Delhi riots as examples of Bharat’s declining democracy, echoing the same themes Soros and his networks have propagated. Such statements, coupled with Pitroda’s defense of Soros, suggest a coordinated attempt to leverage international platforms to discredit Bharat’s democratic institutions and its government.

The Modi Government’s Stand on Civil Society and National Sovereignty

Under Prime Minister Modi, Bharat has tightened regulations on foreign funding to safeguard its sovereignty. The Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), amended in 2020, mandates stricter oversight of foreign contributions to NGOs. These measures have been criticized by global liberal organizations but are viewed domestically as necessary to prevent foreign interference.

Pitroda’s lament about the “major task” of sending donations to Bharatiya NGOs ignores the misuse of such funds in the past. Reports have revealed how foreign-funded organizations have been involved in stalling development projects, inciting protests, and fostering anti-national sentiments. The Modi government’s crackdown on these activities has been instrumental in ensuring that Bharat’s democratic processes are not hijacked by external interests.

A Misguided Defense of a Global Manipulator

Sam Pitroda’s defense of George Soros is both tone-deaf and deeply problematic. Soros is not an altruistic philanthropist but a regime-change enthusiast with a long history of meddling in sovereign nations’ internal affairs. His Open Society Foundations have consistently funded initiatives aimed at destabilizing governments that do not align with his globalist vision. For Pitroda to dismiss Soros’s actions as harmless is to willfully ignore the damage his interventions have caused.

The Congress party’s association with figures like Soros and its continued critique of nationalist policies suggest a troubling disconnect with the aspirations of the Bharatiya electorate. By aligning with global interests that seek to undermine Bharat’s sovereignty, the Congress risks further alienating itself from the Bharatiya people.

Conclusion: Bharat’s Sovereignty Must Be Protected

Sam Pitroda’s remarks defending George Soros and lamenting the Modi government’s regulations on foreign funding expose a larger battle over Bharat’s sovereignty. While the Congress and its allies may view Soros as a benign figure advocating for liberal values, his actions tell a different story. Soros’s agenda, funded by vast resources and cloaked in the rhetoric of democracy, poses a direct threat to Bharat’s independence and democratic institutions.

As Bharat navigates its path in a complex global landscape, it is imperative to safeguard its sovereignty against external interference. The Modi government’s measures to regulate foreign funding are a step in the right direction, ensuring that Bharat’s destiny remains in the hands of its people and not dictated by global power brokers like Soros.
