Mathura, 28th Oct. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has openly supported Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s slogan “Bantenge to Katenge” (If we are divided, we will be cut down), with RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale describing it as a life mantra.

Speaking at a press conference during the RSS’s annual meeting in Mathura, Hosabale emphasized the importance of this message for Hindu unity and public welfare, urging its incorporation into daily life. He remarked that it is essential to combat efforts aimed at dividing the Hindu community.

The slogan gained traction when Adityanath cautioned against opposition parties’ strategies to divide Hindus by caste during a rally in Haryana ahead of the state assembly elections. He claimed that the opposition aims to consolidate Muslim strength while weakening Hindu communities. Citing the plight of innocent Hindus at the hands of Muslims in neighboring countries, Adityanath reinforced the message that division leads to downfall.

Despite facing criticism from opposition parties, this message has found resonance with leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, who have echoed similar sentiments in different contexts. In response to questions about the slogan at the press conference, Hosabale emphasized the need for unity, stating, “People are understanding and implementing it. This is crucial for Hindu unity and public welfare. There are forces working to divide Hindus.”

Hosabale also addressed the government’s efforts to assist the Hindu community in Bangladesh and highlighted the global perception that Hindus look to India for help in times of trouble. Additionally, he raised concerns over “love jihad,” urging awareness among girls to protect them from societal issues stemming from this phenomenon. He claimed that 200 girls had been rescued from such situations in Kerala.

The conversation surrounding “Bantenge to Katenge” was further elaborated upon by BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, who stressed that it is not just a slogan but a historical truth. He noted that wherever Hindus have faltered, those regions have faced dire consequences, citing the historical exodus of Hindus from areas like Kashmir and Lahore.

The RSS’s annual All-India Executive Committee meeting took place in Mathura at the Deendayal Upadhyay Gaushala Research Center on October 25 and 26. Key officials from all 46 RSS provinces attended the gathering. Hosabale reiterated the importance of maintaining unity amidst current challenges, including instances of forced conversions and attacks during festivals like Ganesh and Durga Puja. He called for vigilance and solidarity among Hindus to ensure peace and security in these tumultuous times.
