New Delhi, 29th June. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday warmly welcomed the return of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from their successful mountaineering expedition ‘Vijay’ to Mount Manirang, standing at 21,625 feet.
The Home Minister also visited a Disaster Management Equipment and Photo Exhibition, which showcased state-of-the-art technologies used by NDRF personnel.
Shah commended the NDRF jawans for their indomitable courage and the efficiency these strenuous operations instill in both the individuals and the force.
Highlighting a paradigm shift in disaster management under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Shah emphasized the adoption of a zero casualty approach rather than a relief-centric one. He pointed out that the Modi government is providing comprehensive scientific support to the NDRF, including advanced mobile applications and early warning systems like Dial 112, Mausam, Damini, and Meghdoot.
“Such rigorous campaigns inculcate a habit of conquest, making both the individual and the force great,” stated Shah.
He praised the NDRF for their exemplary work, noting that their presence significantly boosts the morale of those affected by disasters, not just in India but worldwide.
In a significant announcement, Shah said that 16,000 NDRF personnel will now receive a risk and hardship allowance at the rate of 40 percent. This decision reflects the government’s commitment to recognizing the efforts and sacrifices of the NDRF personnel.
Shah also spoke about the government’s plans to integrate sports as a culture within the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), with CAPF teams set to participate in national and international sports competitions.
