Upholding Zero Tolerance: Amit Shah Calls for a Drug-Free India

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, extended greetings to the nation on the occasion of ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, he reaffirmed the government’s steadfast commitment under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to achieve a drug-free India.

Amit Shah emphasized the comprehensive approach adopted by the Modi government, integrating efforts from all levels of governance in the fight against drugs. He highlighted the policy of ‘zero tolerance’ towards drug abuse and the government’s determination to eradicate drug addiction completely.

Acknowledging the efforts of law enforcement agencies and personnel, Amit Shah commended the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for successfully organizing the All India ‘Drug Free Fortnight’. He underscored that combating drug abuse is not just a challenge to individuals but also to societal and national security.

Reflecting on the government’s achievements in narcotics control, Amit Shah noted significant increases in seizures and arrests related to drug trafficking during the Modi administration. He mentioned that the quantity of seized narcotics had nearly doubled, while cases and arrests had increased substantially compared to previous years.

Expressing optimism for future efforts, Shri Amit Shah urged all citizens to actively contribute to the government’s initiatives against drugs.

He called upon the nation to unite in taking a pledge towards building a healthy, happy, and safe society free from the menace of drugs.
