New Delhi, 4th May. Arvinder Singh Lovely, the former Delhi Congress chief, has once again made a surprising move by rejoining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), just days after resigning from his post in the Congress. This unexpected decision comes despite Lovely’s earlier assertions that he would not join the BJP, sparking widespread speculation about his political allegiances.
Lovely’s exit from the Congress leadership had initially sparked rumors, although he vehemently denied any dissatisfaction with the party’s ticket distribution process.
In a letter addressed to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Lovely cited concerns over the party’s decision to form an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the Lok Sabha elections, particularly in light of corruption allegations against several AAP ministers.
This is not the first time Arvinder Singh Lovely has made such a move. He previously resigned as the party’s Delhi chief in 2015, only to join the BJP in 2017. However, his stint with the BJP was short-lived, as he returned to the Congress fold after just nine months.
Lovely’s return to the BJP was formalized in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde, and Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva.
Alongside Lovely, several other former Congress members also made the switch to the BJP, including former MLAs Raj Kumar Chauhan, Naseeb Singh, and Neeraj Basoya, as well as former Youth Congress president Amit Mallik.
