Amit Shah Counters Kejriwal’s CAA Criticism, Questions AAP’s Silence on Bangladeshi Infiltrators and Rohingyas

New Delhi, 14th March. In response to recent criticisms from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched a scathing retort, accusing Kejriwal and his party of ignoring the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas while focusing solely on minority communities.
During an interview with ANI, Shah asserted that Kejriwal’s objections to the CAA stem from his party’s alleged corruption scandals and claimed that Kejriwal’s concerns about national security should prompt him to address the influx of Bangladeshi infiltrators. Shah emphasized that those who arrived in India before 2014 would be eligible for citizenship under the CAA.
Shah questioned Kejriwal’s silence on the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas, suggesting that it reflects a strategic maneuver for votes rather than genuine concern for national security. He criticized Kejriwal for allegedly targeting minority communities such as Jains, Buddhists, and Parsis while overlooking the plight of those persecuted in their home countries.
Furthermore, Shah underscored the historical context of partition and the plight of refugees who fled their homes, emphasizing the need for compassion and support for these individuals. He criticized the Congress party for promising citizenship to refugees and then reneging on their commitments.
The remarks come in the wake of the Union Home Ministry’s notification of rules for implementing the CAA, which aims to grant Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants from neighboring countries.
