Kashi is the Capital of Eternal Knowledge: PM Modi at BHU

Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the prize distribution ceremony of the Sansad Sanskrit Pratiyogita at Swatantra Sabhagar, BHU, Varanasi today, where he also unveiled the booklet on Kashi Sansad Pratiyogita and a coffee table book.

During the event, the Prime Minister awarded winners of the Kashi Sansad Gyan Pratiyogita, Kashi Sansad Photography Pratiyogita, and Kashi Sansad Sanskrit Pratiyogita, while also distributing books, uniform sets, music instruments, and merit scholarships to Sanskrit students in Varanasi.

Addressing the audience, Prime Minister Modi expressed his joy at being surrounded by young scholars, likening the experience to immersing oneself in the Ganga of knowledge. He commended the efforts of the younger generation in fortifying the ancient city’s identity and expressed confidence that India’s youth would propel the nation to greater heights in the Amrit Kaal. Referring to Kashi as the “capital of eternal knowledge,” the Prime Minister underscored the city’s significance and its resurgence to glory, which he deemed a matter of pride for the entire nation.

Acknowledging the instrumental role played by Shri Kashi Vishwanath Mandir Nyas, Kashi Vidvat Parishad, and scholars in advancing his vision for Kashi as its Member of Parliament, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significant progress made by the city in the last decade. However, he humbly attributed this progress to the will of Lord Mahadev, emphasizing that all efforts were merely instruments of divine providence.

Further elaborating on Kashi’s historical and cultural importance, the Prime Minister emphasized its status as not just a religious center but also a vibrant hub of India’s eternal consciousness. He stressed the pivotal role of cultural, spiritual, and social richness in shaping India’s ancient prestige, citing teerths like Kashi and Vishwanath Dham as catalysts for national development.

Speaking about the transformative potential of Vishwanath Dham, Prime Minister Modi reiterated its promise to steer India towards a brighter future. He underscored the scholarly significance of the Dham corridor and its role in revitalizing traditional scriptures of justice. Additionally, he highlighted Kashi’s cosmopolitan allure and its role as a melting pot of diverse ideas, asserting that such diversity fosters new ideals and fuels progress.

The Prime Minister also praised initiatives such as the Kashi Sansad Sanskrit Pratiyogita and Kashi Sansad Gyan Pratiyogita, which provide resources and scholarships to youth eager to study Sanskrit. He noted how these efforts, along with events like Kashi Tamil Sangamam and Ganga Pushkarulu Mahotsav, are contributing to social inclusion and cultural revitalization.

In conclusion, Prime Minister Modi reiterated his commitment to supporting every resident of Kashi as a servant and a friend, emphasizing the city’s greatest strength lies in its people. The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and ministers from the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
