Anurag Singh Thakur Unveils Revolutionary Portals to Transform India’s Media Sector

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur launched four transformative portals on Friday at 10:30 AM at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

These initiatives are poised to redefine the media industry’s dynamics, fostering a more conducive environment for newspaper publishers and TV channels, enhancing government communication transparency and efficiency, facilitating easy access to authentic government videos, and creating a comprehensive database of Local Cable Operators (LCOs) to streamline regulatory processes in the cable television sector.

During the event, Minister Thakur underscored India’s emergence as an attractive investment destination, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary governance and economic reforms that have significantly improved the ease of doing business. The Minister highlighted India’s global recognition for its strides in enhancing business facilitation, evidenced by improved rankings in international indices such as the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index and the Logistic Performance Index.

Emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive business environment, Minister Thakur lauded platforms like the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) for promoting fair opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). He reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s emphasis on recognizing entrepreneurs as partners in national development, leading to increased wealth creation, job opportunities, and overall welfare enhancement.

Key Initiatives Unveiled:

1. Press Sewa Portal: A revolutionary platform developed under the Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023, aimed at simplifying the newspaper registration process through automation. Features include online application submission, real-time application status tracking, and a dedicated dashboard for District Magistrates.
2. Transparent Empanelment Media Planning and eBilling System: Designed to enhance transparency and efficiency in media planning processes, this system offers streamlined empanelment, automated media planning, and billing integration for seamless transactions.
3. NaViGate Bharat Portal: The National Video Gateway of Bharat, developed by the New Media Wing of the Ministry, serves as a unified bilingual platform hosting videos on government’s development initiatives and citizen welfare measures. It enables easy access to official and reliable information, promoting citizen engagement and awareness.
4. National Register for LCOs: A centralized registration system for Local Cable Operators, aimed at organizing the cable sector and facilitating responsible service provision. The online platform simplifies registration processes, paving the way for future policy formulation and sectoral development.

These initiatives signify a monumental leap towards a digitized and modernized media landscape in India, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to fostering innovation, transparency, and progress in the media sector.
