PM Modi to Address ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Chhattisgarh’, Unveil Projects Worth Rs 34,400 Cr on Feb 24

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Chhattisgarh’ programme on 24th February 2024, commencing at 12:30 PM, via video conferencing. During this event, the Prime Minister will inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stone of multiple development initiatives amounting to over Rs 34,400 crore.

These projects encompass various crucial sectors such as Roads, Railways, Coal, Power, and Solar Energy, among others.

One of the prominent highlights of the programme will be the dedication of NTPC’s Lara Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-I (2×800 MW), and the laying of the foundation stone for Stage-II (2×800 MW) in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh. With an investment of approximately Rs 15,800 crore for Stage-I and Rs 15,530 crore for Stage-II, the project boasts highly efficient Super Critical and Ultra Super Critical technologies respectively, ensuring reduced Specific Coal Consumption and Carbon Dioxide emissions.

Notably, 50% of the generated power from both stages is allocated to Chhattisgarh, with significant contributions to the power needs of other states and union territories like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Daman & Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate three crucial First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects by South Eastern Coalfields Limited, amounting to over Rs 600 crores.

These projects, including Dipka OCP Coal Handling Plant, Chhal, and Baroud OCP Coal handling plant, will streamline the mechanized evacuation of coal, thereby enhancing efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate a Solar PV Project at Rajnandgaon, costing around Rs 900 Crore, aimed at bolstering renewable energy production in the region.

Additionally, he will dedicate the Bilaspur – Uslapur Flyover, a 50MW Solar Power Plant in Bhilai, and rehabilitation and upgradation projects of NH-49 and NH-130, fostering enhanced connectivity and economic growth in Chhattisgarh.
