VP Dhankhar Lauds Arunachal Pradesh’s Ecological Preservation Efforts

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar extolled the citizens of Arunachal Pradesh for their exemplary approach to ecological preservation during his address at the 38th Statehood Day celebrations in Itanagar on Tuesday.

In his maiden visit to the state, the Vice-President hailed Arunachal Pradesh as a “microcosm of Bharat”, emphasizing its pristine landscape, misty mountains, and lush forests, which he described as a haven for tourists. He called upon all citizens to emulate the state’s harmonious coexistence with nature, terming their way of life as a model for ecological sustainability.

Dhankhar particularly praised the organic produce of Arunachal Pradesh for its credibility and authenticity, expressing confidence in its potential to access national and international markets. He underscored the importance of government schemes in further expanding the reach of such resources.

Referring to the eight northeastern states as the “jewels of India”, the Vice-President emphasized that India’s cultural fabric remains incomplete without the contribution of the North Eastern region. He highlighted the significant improvements in infrastructure and connectivity in the region, attributing them to the spirit of cooperative federalism and reflecting the changing face of Bharat.

Tracing India’s journey from being one of the ‘Fragile Five’ economies to becoming one of the ‘Top Five’, Shri Dhankhar underscored the rising stature of India globally. He noted India’s leadership in the G20 and highlighted the showcasing of Arunachal Pradesh’s potential during the G20 Research and Innovation Initiative Gathering held in Itanagar.

The Vice-President commended individuals from Arunachal Pradesh who had received Padma Awards in recent years, citing their recognition as evidence of talent being acknowledged without patronage or nepotism. He urged the youth to embrace their role as foot soldiers in India’s journey towards achieving the status of “Viksit Bharat@2047”.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt Gen Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik (Retd.); Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Pema Khandu; Union Minister, Shri Kiren Rijiju; Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Chowna Mein; Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Ms. S Phangnon Konyak; and Speaker of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona.
