PM Modi Expresses Gratitude to Amir of Qatar for Care of Indian Community

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended gratitude to the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his care and support towards the Indian community in Qatar. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted this in a press release following a meeting between the two leaders at Amiri Palace in Doha on Thursday.

During the meeting, PM Modi conveyed India’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation with Qatar and extended an invitation to the Amir for an early visit to India. The Prime Minister was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Amiri Palace upon arrival, followed by delegation-level talks and discussions on various topics, including economic cooperation, investments, energy partnerships, space collaboration, urban infrastructure, cultural ties, and people-to-people connections.

According to the MEA, the Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Qatar’s support and care towards the Indian community, which comprises over 8 lakh individuals. He reiterated India’s eagerness to enhance bilateral ties and invited the Amir to visit India soon.

In response, the Amir reciprocated the sentiments expressed by PM Modi and acknowledged India’s valued partnership in the Gulf region. He praised the contributions of the vibrant Indian community to Qatar’s development and their active participation in international events hosted by Qatar.

Following the meeting, a banquet lunch was hosted at the Amiri Palace in honor of Prime Minister Modi.

Later, PM Modi also met Father Amir, Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, in Doha. During the meeting, he lauded Father Amir’s visionary leadership, which has played a pivotal role in Qatar’s progress over the decades. The two leaders discussed various aspects of India-Qatar relations, with PM Modi expressing appreciation for Father Amir’s insightful perspectives on regional and global developments.

Father Amir underscored the strong bond between India and Qatar, characterized by mutual trust and cooperation. He commended the Indian community for its significant contributions to Qatar’s development and the nurturing of bilateral relations.

Concluding his two-nation visit to the UAE and Qatar, PM Modi departed for New Delhi from Doha. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed PM Modi’s departure, describing his visit as fruitful and marking an important chapter in India-Qatar relations.
