New Delhi, 13th Feb. Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, inaugurated the AIIMS-SBI Smart Payment Card at AIIMS New Delhi on Monday. This innovative payment solution is to streamline the payment process for patients receiving treatment at AIIMS.
During the launch, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the significance of the AIIMS Smart Payment Card in resolving the longstanding issue of patients carrying cash for treatment expenses. Patients or their caregivers can easily obtain the card from facilitation centers across AIIMS New Delhi and utilize it for hassle-free payments at various counters.
Termed as ‘One AIIMS, One Card’, Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the card’s potential to facilitate swift fund transfers from any part of the country for urgent payment requirements of patients at AIIMS New Delhi. He also announced plans to extend this service to all AIIMS facilities across the nation in the near future, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing patient convenience in hospitals nationwide.
A Memorandum of Understanding regarding the implementation of the SBI-AIIMS New Delhi Smart card system was also signed during the event.
Background:
– The SBI-AIIMS Smart card is provided free of cost to patients and is linked to their Unique Hospital Identification (UHID) number and Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID.
The launch event witnessed the presence of Dr. M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS New Delhi, Manjeet Singh, DGM of State Bank of India, and senior officials from the Union Health Ministry.
