Surat, 13th Feb. President Droupadi Murmu addressed the 20th convocation of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat on Monday, emphasizing the pivotal role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India’s development trajectory.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu highlighted the omnipresence of discussions surrounding AI and commended the efforts of both the Government of India and state governments in implementing programs to harness its potential for national progress. She underscored the significance of collaboration between technology institutes like SVNIT, corporate entities, NGOs, and research institutes to bridge the ‘AI skill gap’ prevailing in the country.
President Murmu emphasized the indispensable role of the youth in propelling India towards the forefront of rapidly evolving technologies like AI and machine learning. She urged students to leverage science as a guiding beacon for their technical prowess, problem-solving abilities, and innovative thinking, stressing the importance of not only meeting international engineering standards but also setting new benchmarks in innovation and inclusivity.
Encouraging students to envision their future aspirations, President Murmu advised them to align their pursuits with ideals that resonate with their personal and professional ethos. Emphasizing the value of maintaining a connection with one’s roots, she articulated how this connection fosters personal growth and imbues life with meaning.
Expressing her delight at the increasing enrollment of female students in engineering institutions, President Murmu lauded their dedication to pursuing careers in science and technology. She urged all National Institutes of Technology (NITs) to initiate initiatives aimed at bolstering female participation in engineering and technology disciplines through targeted programs, campaigns, and workshops.
