Union Minister of Civil Aviation & Steel Jyotiraditya M. Scindia unveiled Airbus’s major expansion in its “Make-in-India” initiative on Thursday. The event showcased Airbus’s collaboration with Dynamatic Technologies to manufacture all doors for the single-aisle A220 family aircraft in India.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Scindia emphasized India’s emergence as a global aerospace manufacturing hub, echoing the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister for ‘Make in India.’ He highlighted Airbus’s substantial contribution to this mission, with exports of Indian-made products already totaling $750 million and set to double in the coming year.

The A220 aircraft’s range and seating capacity make it an ideal fit for India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, aimed at bolstering regional connectivity and fostering economic development nationwide.

The manufacturing facility established by Dynamatic Technologies will not only provide opportunities for Indian private sector involvement in the aviation industry but also enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, reducing import reliance and boosting exports.

This contract marks the second major collaboration between Airbus and an Indian supplier, with the first involving Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. for the manufacturing of bulk and cargo doors of the A320 Family aircraft. Additionally, Airbus’s partnership with local manufacturers supports thousands of jobs in India, a number expected to rise significantly by 2025.

By aligning with the Government of India’s ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ vision, Airbus’s expansion in India underscores the country’s commitment to self-reliance and global competitiveness in aerospace manufacturing. This collaboration signifies a substantial leap toward realizing India’s potential as a key player in the global aerospace industry.
