PM Modi was welcomed in Assam with one lakh diyas lit

On Saturday night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down in Assam for a two-day visit. He is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the groundwork for projects worth ₹ 11,600 crore.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and other officials met Prime Minister Modi at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.

In the state led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), thousands of people lit one lakh diyas at Khanapara in Guwahati, and the PM was greeted with great enthusiasm. During the welcoming ceremony, Bihu dance was performed by local artists.

The Chief Minister of Assam shared this happy occasion on X. In Khanapara, thousands gather to light one million diyas in celebration of the esteemed Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji’s arrival in Assam. The festive celebration’s magnificent visuals perfectly capture the essence of #PMModiInAssam,” Sarma posted on X.

“Arrived in Assam to a hospitable reception following programs in Odisha. “After arriving in Assam, I am grateful to the people of Guwahati for their kindness,” the PM wrote on X.

The prime minister will unveil multiple state and central projects during a public speech at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at the Veterinary College Playground in Guwahati, after visiting the Kamakhya temple, according to the chief minister’s office.
