Ranchi, 4th Feb. At 6 p.m. on Sunday, about 40 coalition MLAs from Jharkhand who relocated to Hyderabad due to concerns about BJP poaching attempts will make their way back to the eastern state. On February 5 and 6, the MLAs will return to Ranchi to take part in the trust vote during a special session of the Jharkhand Assembly.
The MLAs will be transported to the assembly on a bus on Monday after spending the night at the Circuit House in Ranchi. On Saturday, they were moved to the capital of Telangana, where they were detained at a resort under police supervision in Hyderabad.
There was only one elevator and police security to access the floors of the “Leonia Holistic Destination” at Shamirpet on the outskirts of the city where they were staying.
Hemant Soren, the former chief minister of Jharkhand, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31 in relation to a purported land scam, is currently serving a jail sentence and will participate in the trust vote.
On Saturday, February 3, the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Court gave him permission to do so.
Soren, whose custody was extended until February 7, petitioned the special PMLA Court to be allowed to take part in the trust vote that the Jharkhand government, led by new Chief Minister Champai Soren, was requesting. Just hours before his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31, Hemant Soren had designated Champai Soren, the head of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislative party, as his successor. Champai Soren, a seasoned veteran and one of the JMM’s original members, took an oath at the Raj Bhavan on Friday.
Alamgir Alan of the Congress and Satyanand Bhogta of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) also took an oath of office as ministers. Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan has asked Champai Soren to demonstrate his majority within ten days.
Mamata Banerjee attacks the BJP and promises to support her “close friend” Hemant Soren.
