Hemant Soren Challenges His Arrest in Supreme Court, Hearing Tomorrow

 Hemant Soren, the leader of JMM, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court to challenge his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case.

The Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra have agreed to hear the plea of the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Friday.

Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Singhvi, senior lawyers representing Soren, informed the Supreme Court that he will withdraw his plea from the Jharkhand High Court.

Soren was arrested on Wednesday night after stepping down as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Champai Soren, a loyalist of the party and the state transport minister, has been named as his successor.

He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate after a lengthy seven-hour interrogation in the case.
