West Bengal Govt Reshuffles Police Ranks, Manoj Kumar Verma Appointed in Charge of Law and Order

The West Bengal government has announced a reshuffle in the state’s police ranks, involving the transfer of several IPS officers, as per an official notification.

Manoj Kumar Verma, a 1998 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Additional Director General and Inspector-General of Police (Law and Order), replacing Jawed Shamim.

Shamim, a 1995 batch officer, has been assigned Verma’s previous role as ADG and IG (Intelligence Bureau), with the additional responsibility of Additional Director Security.

Siddh Nath Gupta, the DG and IGP of South Bengal, has been appointed as the DGP of the State Crime Record Bureau. Nimbalkar Santosh Uttamrao, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Darjeeling Range, has been named as the DIG of Jalpaiguri. Bhaskar Mukherjee, the Barasat SP, has been appointed as the DIG of Malda Range.

Joby Thomas K, the Basirhat SP, has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) of Islampur.
