Mathura, 1st Feb. Pravin Togadia, the president of Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad, expressed his approval of a recent court ruling in Varanasi. The court stated that a priest can perform prayers in the cellar of the Gyanvapi Masjid. Togadia mentioned that puja used to occur in that location until 1993.
The Varanasi district court’s decision is a significant development in the ongoing legal dispute surrounding the mosque, which is situated next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. The prayers will be conducted by a “pujari” appointed by the Kashi Vishwanath temple trust and the petitioner, who claims that his grandfather performed puja in the cellar until December 1993.
Mumtaz Ahmed, the counsel for the Muslim side, stated that they will challenge the court’s order in the high court.
Togadia expressed his hope that, similar to the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, a magnificent temple will be built in Varanasi. He mentioned that the funds for the Ayodhya temple were contributed by individuals who supported the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement since its inception in 1989.
