New Delhi, 31st Jan. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has finally spoken out about Nitish Kumar’s decision to leave the Mahagathbandhan alliance in Bihar and join hands with the NDA. According to Gandhi, Kumar’s departure was a result of the Bihar caste survey.
Gandhi explained that he had told Kumar directly that conducting a caste census in Bihar was necessary. Both the Congress and RJD parties insisted on Kumar conducting the survey. However, the BJP was opposed to this plan, which caused Kumar to become stuck. Ultimately, the BJP provided him with an opportunity to leave through the back door, Gandhi claimed.
Gandhi further stated that the responsibility of the INDIA blocs alliance is to ensure social justice for all, and they do not need Kumar for that purpose.
Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record ninth time on Sunday, with Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha from the BJP as his deputies. Kumar had mentioned that the political situation in the state was not ideal.
However, Gandhi argued that Kumar’s decision to switch sides again was due to succumbing to a little bit of pressure.
Gandhi also made a joke about Kumar’s actions, stating that after taking the oath at Raj Bhavan, Kumar left but then realized he had forgotten his shawl in the car. He instructed the driver to turn back, and he returned to Raj Bhavan. The Governor asked why he had come back so soon.
Gandhi concluded by saying that a little bit of pressure caused Kumar to make a U-turn, but questioned why there was pressure in the first place. He emphasized that their alliance raises important issues that matter to the people.
